People skills help in customer service

November 12th, 2008 | by admin |

Building and maintaining the moral of a customer service team can be a difficult job, especially if they are working online. Coping with a constant stream of e-mails, telephones and chats can be a thankless and difficult job, especially of the customers are inclined to be a little hostile sometimes. It takes a special person to cope with this kind of job for long periods, and the turnover in staff can be pretty high. Employers who don’t want to be constantly retraining new staff have discovered by allowing their existing staff a free rein in exercising the soft skills, or people skills, they that have developed to build a more positive atmosphere in the work place. A happy and well trained staff is not so inclined to work and react to customer inquiries and complaints as automatons. Instead their friendly and attentive manner puts customers at ease and takes the tension out of any potentially fraught situation, making customer service skills training a very worthwhile investment for any sales and service provider.
