The GIMP, Open Source Image Editing Software

July 22nd, 2008 | by admin |

I imagine a lot of you out there have heard, used, or even own Adobe Photoshop and Corel Paint Shop Pro. Did you know there was a feature rich open source solution out there though? That solution is called the GIMP, although some users often omit the "the" from the title. GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program, and is the Image Editing Software of the GNU Project. In case you have been living under a rock and do not know what open source is, open source is free software. Completely free, it can never be commercialized as its source code is publicly available.
