Some of the dental assistant duties include: the maintenance and preparation of dental instruments, equipment and supplies; the recording and collecting of patients’ health histories; the management of patients during dental procedures; the transfer of required instruments from the tray to the dentist during procedures; the preparation of  dental materials such as composites, amalgams and cements; knowing and using dental procedure isolation techniques; handling dental charts; preventing  and managing dental emergencies; managing and controlling dental inventory.
