Mortgage Debt Slavery

February 18th, 2008 | by admin |

We should consider ourselves very lucky that in these days, in most countries around the world, one cannot be imprisoned for the non-payment of debt. In the olden times, non-payment of   mortgage debt   often led to imprisonment and even slavery! Mortgage debt slavery was once a very common institution. While it has been mostly eliminated, it still unfortunately exists in some forms all over the world. Indentured labor is still very much a fact of life in many places. A life of prostitution for instance, is often the fate of many illegal immigrants who need to pay off a “mortgage debt” to human traffickers for being brought over to a certain country.
