A Jewish Child’s Must Read for the Hanukkah

November 10th, 2008 | by admin |

Children’s book author, Eric A. Kimmel has created a funny yet beautifully written story about bravery and fearlessness in hershel and the hanukkah Goblins.  Hershel of Ostropol wanders in to a small village hoping to partake in the first night of Hanukkah celebrations with the townspeople, only to find the village desolate and baron of any decorations.  Perplexed, he asks the townspeople why.  They tell him that some unruly goblins have ruined their Hanukkah celebrations for many years, so they have chosen not to celebrate any longer.  Upon hearing this, Hershel tells the townspeople that he will see to it that the goblins will not bother them any longer.  He spends the next eight nights of Hanukkah bravely guarding the lit candles of the menorah while warding off wicked little goblins.  In the end, the clever Hershel and his bravery triumphed over the meager little goblins and the villagers were once again allowed to celebrate Hanukkah.
