Cafeteria Dining.

July 25th, 2008 | by admin |

Oregon State University is using the Worm Wigwam to recycle waste products from one of it's cafeterias. The worm wigwam, available commercially, is cylindrical and measures three foot by three foot. It is designed to operate with about 15,000 to 18,000 worms. The large scale worm composting bin is insulated and comes with a heater so as to withstand the winters of the northwest. The wigwam has a raised floor design to facilitate aeration for faster compost time. When the worms have done their thing to the cafeteria leftover, you just turn the harvest handle, remove the lower door and collect your compost.
