As a California resident, do I have to pay state income tax while working overseas?

I will be moving to Japan to work and was wondering if I have to pay California state taxes. Thanks.
I work for the U.S. government. I have tried to research the California tax code but couldn’t find anything definitive. If you have a link or reference you could share, I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks.

I’m almost positive that the answer is no. California income tax is paid on wages that are earned while working in California.

You do not have to pay state income tax if you work overseas for longer than 6 months and 1 day. It also depends on weather the company you work for is based in the US or not.

Talk to your CPA for more details.
